Mother’s Day is just around the corner! It’s a holiday that holds significant weight with my family, so I’m always on the hunt for a bigger and better gift than the year before. I don’t mean bigger and better in a physical or monetary sense, but in a thoughtful, symbolic sort of way. This is where my photo mosaic obsession comes into play.
While searching for creative Mother’s Day ideas, I found the Amazing Women Everywhere Mosaic, an online photo mosaic where visitors can share a photo and story of an important woman in their lives.
I was recently at an event in Boston, MA hosted by United Way, and I saw something that really caught my eye. And was perfect for this site. I noticed some sort of moving photo mosaic on a large, HD monitor with a green screen next to it. Upon further inspection, I found that you could have your photo taken on the spot and watch as your photo was added to the mosaic on the monitor. I wish I could say I was surprised when I approached the mosaic attendants only to find out that this real-time interactive mosaic was created and hosted by our friends at Picture Mosaics.
A friend of mine on Facebook shared a link on my wall of the most adorable mosaic, the 2012 First Cheerios Mosaic! It is an interactive online mosaic reaching out to parents to be a part of a photographic monument. This is an excellent way for families to celebrate together one of their toddler’s momentous “firsts”!
Recently my friend, who is a Boston RedSox fanatic, sent me a link to a website he thought I would be interested in. It turned out he was right. His link took me to a site that was celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park using a mosaic!
For all those hard core Harley-Davidson fans, an interactive online mosaic has been created. Thousands of Harley-Davidson fans uploaded photos to be included in the Harley-Davidson 2010 motorcycle catalog an online interactive version. be sure to check it out here: http://www.h-d-mosaic.com
To mark the inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama, The Fresno Bee and Picture Mosaics have created a very cool interactive mosaic. The mosaic is made up of all past presidents. The online mosaic also features a very impressive tour mode and pull down menu that allows you to find any president very quickly. The mosaic was also printed the the front page of the Fresno Bee Sunday’s (January 18th, 2008) paper.
